The Florida Panthers have never won the Stanley Cup and have only made it to the Stanley Cup Finals once, in 1996. They have made the playoffs 30 times in their 32 seasons of existence, but have never advanced past the second round.

Aleksander Barkov: Current Captain

Aleksander Barkov was named the 10th captain in Panthers history on September 17, 2018. He is the second Finnish captain in Florida's young history, after Olli Jokinen.

Early Years: 1992-2000

The Panthers made their NHL debut in 1993-94 and quickly became one of the most popular teams in the league. They were led by a young core of players, including Pavel Bure, Scott Mellanby, and John Vanbiesbrouck. In 1996, the Panthers made their first and only Stanley Cup Finals appearance, but lost to the Colorado Avalanche in four games.

New Arena and a Decade of Struggles: 1998-2010

In 1998, the Panthers moved into their new arena, the BB&T Center. However, the team struggled for much of the next decade, making the playoffs only four times. They also went through a number of coaching changes, including the firing of Doug MacLean in 2003 and Jacques Martin in 2008.

Dale Tallon Era: 2010-2020

In 2010, Dale Tallon was hired as the Panthers' general manager. He made a number of changes to the team, including trading for Roberto Luongo and drafting Aaron Ekblad. The Panthers made the playoffs five times under Tallon, but were eliminated in the first round each time.

Arrival of Bill Zito: Return to Prominence

In 2020, Bill Zito was hired as the Panthers' general manager. He made a number of significant moves, including signing Sergei Bobrovsky and trading for Sam Reinhart. The Panthers made the playoffs in 2022 and 2023, and won their first playoff series since 1996 in 2023.
