Chrissy Teigen and John Legend's Son Diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes

Chrissy Teigen and John Legend are opening up about their son's health journey.

The model, 38, shared on Wednesday that her and Legend's son, Miles, 6, was diagnosed with the condition.

Teigen took to Instagram to share the news, writing, “Miles has type 1 diabetes. This is not a joke or a scare tactic. We are learning and navigating this all together.”

“It has been a roller coaster of emotions,” she continued. “I will share when I am ready.”

Legend, 43, also shared the news on his own Instagram page, writing, “We learned today that our son Miles has type 1 diabetes.”

“It's a new and challenging reality for us,” he continued. “But we're so grateful for the support of our family and friends, and we're determined to give Miles all the love and care he needs to live a happy and healthy life.”

Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease that affects the body's ability to produce insulin, a hormone that helps glucose enter cells for energy.

The condition is typically diagnosed in children and young adults, and it requires lifelong treatment with insulin therapy.

There is no cure for type 1 diabetes, but it can be managed with insulin therapy, diet, and exercise.
