NCIS Showrunner George Schenck has passed away at the age of 82.

Schenck was a writer, producer, and showrunner on the hit CBS drama NCIS.

George Schenck, a television writer and producer who served as showrunner on the ratings smash CBS police procedural NCIS, died at his home in Los Angeles on Friday. He was 82.

Schenck had a long and successful career in television, dating back to the 1970s. He wrote and produced episodes of such popular shows as The Rockford Files, Magnum, P.I., and JAG before joining NCIS in 2003.

As showrunner of NCIS, Schenck oversaw the creative direction of the show and was responsible for its overall success. Under his leadership, NCIS became one of the most popular shows on television, consistently ranking among the top 10 in the Nielsen ratings.
