Former 60 Ft Dolls Drummer Carl Bevan Dies at 51

WEB Musician and artist Carl Bevan has died at the age of 51, his partner has announced on social media. Bevan rose to prominence as the drummer for the Newport band 60 Ft Dolls, who released two albums and toured extensively throughout the UK and Europe in the mid-1990s.

The band's debut album, “Big Sounds for Small Towns,” was released in 1995 and featured the singles “Pretty Vacant” and “16 Candles.” Their second album, “The Ballad of the Broken Hearts Club,” was released in 1997 and featured the singles “She's Got That Light” and “Golden Years.” 60 Ft Dolls disbanded in 1999, but reformed in 2010 for a series of live shows.

Bevan also worked as a session musician for a number of other artists, including Paul Weller, The Charlatans, and The Coral. He also released a solo album, “The Bevan Suite,” in 2002.

Bevan's death has been met with an outpouring of grief from the music industry. His former bandmates, Paul Weller, and The Charlatans have all paid tribute to him on social media.
