Lego Shark Caught After 27 Years at Sea
Fisherman Discovers Lost Toy
A fisherman from Devon has landed the first shark of its kind – one made of Lego lost at sea off a cargo ship 27 years ago. Richard West, a 35-year-old fisherman from Plymouth, was fishing off the coast of Devon when he caught the Lego shark in his net.
A Piece of History
The Lego shark is part of a 1997 Lego set known as “Sharks.” The set was part of a shipment of toys lost at sea when the cargo ship Tokio Express encountered a storm. West's discovery marks the first time a piece from the set has been found.
A Lasting Impression
The discovery of the Lego shark is a reminder of the lasting impact humans have on the environment. The toy, lost at sea for almost three decades, has now been returned to land, a testament to the vastness and resilience of our oceans.
