NASCAR's Coke Zero Sugar 400 Preview: McDowell Claims Pole

Michael McDowell will start on pole for Saturday's Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona International Speedway.

McDowell edged out Front Row Motorsports teammate Todd Gilliland by 0.005 seconds in qualifying.

It's the second pole of McDowell's Cup Series career.

Playoff Implications

The Coke Zero Sugar 400 is the second race in the Round of 16 of the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs.

The top 12 drivers in the standings after the race will advance to the Round of 12.

Currently, Kyle Larson, Chase Elliott, and Martin Truex Jr. are the top three drivers in the standings.

The Coke Zero Sugar 400 will be held on Saturday, August 27th at Daytona International Speedway.

The race will start at 7:00 PM ET and will be broadcast on NBC.

The race is 160 laps (400 miles) long.
