43rd Curtis Cup: Highlights From Day One at Sunningdale Golf Club

Sunningdale Golf Club played host to the first day of the 43rd Curtis Cup on Thursday.

The United States and Great Britain & Ireland (GB&I) teams battled it out in the biennial match, with the home side taking an early lead.

The Americans won the opening two matches of the morning foursomes, but GB&I fought back as they secured three of the four afternoon fourballs matches.

The GB&I team, captained by Elaine Farquharson MBE, was led by Annabel Fuller, who won both of her matches and holed the winning putt in the fourballs.

The United States, captained by Virginia Elena Carta, will be looking to fight back on Friday when the fourballs matches resume.

The Curtis Cup is a biennial match between the United States and GB&I.

The event was first held in 1932 and is played over three days. The United States won the 2021 Curtis Cup.
