The Spartans Have Been Hitting the Ground Running in Texas

Michigan State football coach Mel Tucker has been making waves in the Lone Star State since the NCAA lifted the dead period in early June. Tucker and his staff have been crisscrossing Texas, offering scholarships to some of the top prospects in the state.

Tucker's Impressions of Texas So Far

Tucker has been impressed with the talent level in Texas, as well as the state's overall passion for football.

“Texas is a football state,” Tucker said. “The people here love the game, and they produce great players. We're excited to be able to recruit here and add some of the best talent in the country to our program.”

Tucker has also been impressed with the work ethic of Texas high school players.

“The kids in Texas are tough and physical,” Tucker said. “They're used to playing in a competitive environment, and they're always looking to get better. We're looking for players who are willing to work hard and compete, and we've found a lot of those guys in Texas.”
