Mark Harlan, the athletic director at the University of Utah, has praised the performance of the school's football team and its resilience in the face of adversity. He made these comments during an interview with the Salt Lake Tribune.

Harlan specifically mentioned two examples of “true American underdog” stories. The first was the story of Utah's victory over Oregon in the 2021 Rose Bowl Game. The Utes were a heavy underdog in that game, but they ultimately pulled off a stunning upset.

The other story that Harlan mentioned was the story of Utah's football team in 2022. The Utes were picked to finish near the bottom of the Pac-12 Conference, but they ended up winning the conference championship and earning a berth in the Rose Bowl Game.
