What’s Happening in St. Catharines over the Labour Day Weekend

The 2023 Merriton Lions Club Annual Ribfest is Back!

After a two-year hiatus, The Merriton Lions Club Annual Ribfest is back for its 22nd year! They expect over 200,000 attendees and 23,000 pounds of delicious ribs to be sold!

This four-day event starts on Thursday, August 31st, and runs until Monday, September 4th. There will be 11 ribbers competing for your taste buds, live music, a midway featuring 26 rides and games, and so much more!

The Merriton Lions Club Annual Ribfest takes place at the St. Catharines Kiwanis Bandshell and the surrounding park, located at 109 Geneva Street.

The 37th Annual St. Catharines Labour Day Classic Car Show

This free event takes place on Monday, September 4th, and this year’s theme is “Back to the 50s.” Stroll the downtown area and check out over 1,000 classic cars from 1942 to 2005.

In addition to all the beautiful cars, there will also be live entertainment, a beer garden, and food vendors. The car show runs from 9 am to 4 pm, and James Street will be closed to traffic from King Street to Welland Avenue.

The Great Canadian Kayak Festival and Paddling Expo

This three-day event runs from Friday, September 1st, to Sunday, September 3rd, at the Lakeside Park Rotary Pavilion.

The Great Canadian Kayak Festival and Paddling Expo will feature over 50 exhibitors, including kayak and paddleboard manufacturers, paddling clubs, and outdoor adventure companies.

There will also be a variety of free activities and demos, including guided paddles, kayak races, and paddling clinics. So whether you’re a seasoned paddler or just starting out, this is an event you won’t want to miss!
