No Osimhen no problem as Lukaku scores his debut goal in Napoli’s late comeback
Napoli came from behind to beat Hellas Verona 2 – 1 in their opening game of the Serie A season on Monday.
The visitors took the lead through Kevin Lasagna in the 29th minute, but Napoli leveled through Piotr Zielinski in the 55th minute.
Lukaku, who joined Napoli on loan from Chelsea this summer, scored the winner in the 85th minute.
The Belgian striker had a great chance to open his account for Napoli in the first half, but he missed a penalty.
However, he made amends for his earlier miss with a well-taken goal in the second half.
Napoli coach Luciano Spalletti was pleased with his team’s performance.
He said: “I think we played a great game, especially in the first half.
We created many chances, but we didn’t take them.”
Spalletti also praised Lukaku’s performance.
He said: “Lukaku is a great player, and he showed his quality tonight.
He’s a very important player for us, and I’m sure he’ll score many goals for us this season.”
Napoli will next face Monza in their second game of the Serie A season on Sunday.
