Red Sox Lineups: Triston Casas Sitting Against Orioles Lefty
Triston Casas Out of Lineup vs. Baltimore Orioles
Triston Casas, Boston's highly touted first baseman, will not be in the lineup Tuesday night against the Baltimore Orioles.
Red Sox manager Alex Cora announced the decision before the game, saying that he wanted to give Casas a day off against a left-handed pitcher.
The Orioles are starting left-hander Bruce Zimmermann, and Cora said he believes Casas will be more effective against right-handed pitchers.
Casas Has Struggled Against Lefties This Season
Casas is hitting just .176 with a .273 on-base percentage and a .353 slugging percentage against left-handed pitchers this season.
He has struck out 13 times in 34 at-bats against lefties, and he has just one extra-base hit.
Cora said he believes Casas will be able to adjust to left-handed pitching in the future, but he wants to give him some more time to develop.
Red Sox Lineup vs. Orioles
With Casas out of the lineup, the Red Sox will have the following lineup against the Orioles:

- RF Kike Hernandez
- DH J.D. Martinez
- 1B Bobby Dalbec
- SS Xander Bogaerts
- 3B Rafael Devers
