Solapur Road: PMPML Electric Bus Catches Fire, Passengers Evacuated Safely

Passengers Remained Calm as Firefighters Extinguished the Blaze

A PMPML electric bus caught fire on Solapur Road on Sunday evening. The incident occurred around 8:30 pm, when the bus was near the Kharadi Bypass.

According to eyewitnesses, the fire started from the rear of the bus and quickly spread to the rest of the vehicle. Passengers on board remained calm and evacuated the bus safely.

Firefighters arrived at the scene and extinguished the blaze. No injuries were reported.

Cause of Fire Being Investigated

The cause of the fire is still being investigated. However, preliminary reports suggest that it may have been caused by a short circuit in the electrical system.

The PMPML has ordered an inquiry into the incident and has assured that all necessary steps will be taken to prevent such incidents from happening in the future.

Electric Bus Fires: A Growing Concern

The fire on Solapur Road is the latest in a series of electric bus fires that have occurred in recent months. In April, an electric bus in Mumbai caught fire, injuring 20 passengers.

Experts say that electric bus fires are a growing concern, as these vehicles become more common.

The batteries in electric buses are highly flammable, and if not properly maintained, they can pose a fire hazard.

Steps to Prevent Electric Bus Fires

There are a number of steps that can be taken to prevent electric bus fires, including:

  • Regularly inspecting and maintaining the electrical system
  • Using fire-resistant materials in the construction of the bus
  • Installing smoke and fire detectors
  • Educating drivers and passengers on the hazards of electric bus fires

By taking these steps, we can help to ensure that electric buses are a safe and reliable form of transportation.
