Tornado Warning for Walton County

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a tornado warning for Walton County, Georgia. The warning is in effect until 9:00 PM EDT. The NWS advises residents to take shelter immediately and stay away from windows. The NWS has also issued a tornado watch for the following counties: – Dekalb County – Gwinnett County – Rockdale County – Henry County – Newton County – Jasper County – Butts County – Pike County Residents in these counties should be prepared to take shelter if a tornado warning is issued.

If you are in a tornado warning, the NWS recommends that you take the following safety precautions: – Take shelter in a basement or interior room on the lowest floor of your home. – Stay away from windows. – Lie down flat and cover your head with your hands. – If you are outside, lie down in a ditch or other low-lying area and cover your head with your hands.
