Lakers Lose to Suns, Suffer First Loss of the Season
High-Scoring Affair in Phoenix
The Los Angeles Lakers suffered their first defeat of the 2022-23 NBA season, falling to the host Phoenix Suns 115-105 on Wednesday night.
Despite a valiant effort from Anthony Davis, who finished with 37 points and 22 rebounds, the Lakers were unable to match the Suns' hot shooting from beyond the arc.
Phoenix hit a total of 17 three-pointers, including six from Mikal Bridges, who led all scorers with 25 points.
Davis' Dominant Performance Not Enough
Davis was a force inside the paint for the Lakers, connecting on 14 of his 22 field goal attempts.
However, his efforts were not enough to overcome the Suns' balanced scoring attack and efficient shooting from downtown.
LeBron James, who is still working his way back from an offseason foot injury, finished with 25 points on 9-of-24 shooting.
Lakers' Defense Struggles Continue
The Lakers' defense, which has been a concern early in the season, continued to struggle against the Suns.
Phoenix shot 50.6% from the field and 44.7% from three-point range, while the Lakers shot just 41.8% from the field and 26.3% from deep.
The Lakers will look to bounce back from their first loss when they host the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday night.
