Atlanta Braves Exercise 2023 Club Option for Outfielder Marcell Ozuna

The Atlanta Braves have decided to exercise their 2023 club option on outfielder Marcell Ozuna, according to a recent announcement by the team. Ozuna's option is worth $18 million, and the Braves also have a $16 million club option for 2024.

Ozuna, 31, has been a key member of the Braves' lineup since being acquired from the St. Louis Cardinals in 2020. In 2022, Ozuna played in 153 games and batted .229 with 23 home runs and 80 RBIs. He also led the National League in outfield assists with 13.

While Ozuna's offensive production declined slightly in 2022, he remains a valuable asset to the Braves. He is a good defender in the outfield and provides a power bat in the middle of the lineup. The Braves are hoping that Ozuna can bounce back in 2023 and be a key contributor to their offense.

Braves Decline 2023 Club Option for Catcher Brian D'Arnaud

The Atlanta Braves have also decided to decline their 2023 club option on catcher Brian D'Arnaud, according to a recent announcement by the team. D'Arnaud's option was worth $8 million.

D'Arnaud, 33, has been a solid contributor to the Braves since signing with the team in 2021. In 2022, D'Arnaud played in 113 games and batted .258 with 18 home runs and 66 RBIs.

However, the Braves have decided to move on from D'Arnaud in favor of younger catchers Sean Murphy and William Contreras. Murphy was acquired from the Oakland Athletics in a trade in December, and Contreras was acquired from the Chicago Cubs in a trade in January.

D'Arnaud is now a free agent and is expected to draw interest from several teams. He is a good hitter and a solid defender, and he could be a valuable addition to any team.
