Nova Scotia Election: Tory Leader Won't Invite Pierre Poilievre to Join Campaign
Tim Houston says he's focused on winning the election in Nova Scotia
The Nova Scotia Progressive Conservative leader says he won't be inviting federal Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre to join him on the campaign trail, saying he's focused on winning the election in his province.
Tim Houston made the comments in an interview with reporters on Monday, August 14, 2023, in Halifax.
Poilievre has been touring the country in recent weeks, meeting with party members and supporters ahead of the next federal election.
He has also been speaking out on a number of issues, including the rising cost of living and the government's handling of the COVID-19 pandemic.
When asked if he would invite Poilievre to campaign with him in Nova Scotia, Houston said he was focused on winning the election in his province.
“I'm not going to get involved in federal politics,” Houston said.
“My focus is on winning the election in Nova Scotia and delivering for the people of this province.
The Nova Scotia election is scheduled for August 17, 2023.
The Progressive Conservatives are currently the official opposition in the province.
The Liberals, led by Premier Iain Rankin, are seeking a second term in government.
The NDP, led by Gary Burrill, is also running in the election.
