Alien Resurrection (1997)

Sigourney Weaver Returns in Sci-Fi Horror Sequel

In the 1997 science fiction horror film Alien Resurrection, Sigourney Weaver reprises her iconic role as Ellen Ripley. Directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet and written by Joss Whedon, the film follows Ripley as she awakens aboard a medical research vessel, the USM Auriga, two hundred years after her death.

Scientists on the Auriga have cloned Ripley and implanted her with the embryo of the alien queen, hoping to study her unique physiology. However, the aliens escape containment and begin to wreak havoc on the ship, forcing Ripley and the surviving crew to fight for their lives.

The film also stars Winona Ryder as Call, Dominique Pinon as Vriess, and Ron Perlman as Johner. Alien Resurrection received mixed reviews from critics, but was a commercial success, grossing over $160 million worldwide.
