Shock FA Cup Final Defeat Leaves Guardiola Questioning Tactics

Guardiola Blames Tactics for City's Shock FA Cup Final Defeat

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has taken the blame for his team's shock 2-1 defeat against Manchester United in Saturday's Emirates FA Cup final at Wembley.

The Spaniard made a double change at the break, which included the introduction of tricky winger Doku, but it failed to turn the tide in City's favor.

Guardiola admitted that his poor game plan was to blame for the defeat, saying: “I take full responsibility for this result. I didn't prepare the team well enough and we paid the price.”

Guardiola Confident City Will Bounce Back

Despite the disappointment of the defeat, Guardiola is confident that his players will bounce back quickly in the 2024/25 campaign.

He said: “We have a lot of quality in this squad and I know that we can challenge for all the major trophies next season.”

United's Fernandes Holds the Trophy Aloft

Manchester United's Bruno Fernandes held the trophy aloft after his team's victory, which was their first major trophy since 2017.

The Portuguese midfielder scored the winning goal in the second half, adding to Marcus Rashford's opener.

Guardiola and Ten Hag Met in the Showpiece Last Year

This was the second time that Guardiola and Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag had met in the FA Cup final, with Guardiola's City winning 1-0 in 2021.
