Honduras Liga Nacional Clausura: Marathon Leads the Way

Marathón maintain their lead despite draw

Marathón continue to lead the 2023 Clausura tournament standings in the Liga Nacional de Honduras despite being held to a 1-1 draw by Motagua in the capital city on Saturday night. Juan Carlos Obregón gave Marathón an early lead in the ninth minute, but Erick Andino leveld for Motagua midway through the second half to leave the scores level.

Marathón's lead at the top of the table remains at two points, as second-place Olimpia also played out a 1-1 draw away to Universidad Pedagógica Nacional Francisco Morazán (UPNFM).

UPNFM took an early lead through a Maynor Arzú penalty in the 19th minute, but Olimpia equalized on the stroke of half-time through German Mejía.

Real España win at home

Real España moved up to third in the standings with a 2-0 win at home to Victoria. Ramiro Rocca and Darixon Vuelto scored the goals for the Aurinegros in the second half to secure the three points.

In other matches, Vida beat Honduras Progreso 2-1, while Real Sociedad and Olancho drew 0-0.
