Red Bull to Field Altered Lineup for Season's Final Three Races

Verstappen to Miss Mexico City Grand Prix Due to Suspension

Perez to Partner with de Vries for Remaining Races

Formula One's championship leaders Red Bull have announced a shake-up to their driver lineup for the final three races of the 2023 season.

Reigning world champion Max Verstappen will be absent from the Mexico City Grand Prix due to a suspension incurred at the previous race in the United States.

In his place, Nyck de Vries will make his Red Bull debut alongside Sergio Perez for the races in Mexico, Brazil, and Abu Dhabi.

De Vries, who currently competes in Formula E for Mercedes, has impressed in his limited Formula One outings this season, scoring points in both races for Williams.

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner praised de Vries's abilities and expressed confidence in his ability to contribute to the team's championship ambitions.

“Nyck is a very talented driver who has shown his potential in Formula E and his brief Formula One appearances,” Horner said.

“We believe he can come in and do a good job for us in the final three races of the season.”

Verstappen's suspension is a significant blow to Red Bull's hopes of securing both the drivers' and constructors' championships.

The Dutchman currently leads the drivers' standings by 123 points, but his absence from Mexico City will give his rivals a chance to close the gap.

Red Bull also lead the constructors' championship, but Ferrari are just 59 points behind with three races remaining.

Despite the setback, Horner remains optimistic about Red Bull's chances of ending the season with both titles.

“We have a strong team and a fast car,” Horner said.

“We're confident that Sergio and Nyck can get the job done for us.”

The Mexico City Grand Prix takes place on October 30, followed by the Brazilian Grand Prix on November 13 and the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on November 20.
