Shirak SC defeats Gandzasar Kapan FC to take early lead in Armenian Premier League
Shirak FC dominates the first half, scoring two goals.
Shirak FC started the game brightly and took the lead in the 15th minute when Vardan Shahatuni lashed home a superb strike. The lead was doubled in the 30th minute when Alik Arakelyan headed home from a corner.
Gandzasar Kapan FC improved after the break and pulled a goal back in the 60th minute through Edgar Malakyan. However, Shirak FC restored their two-goal advantage in the 75th minute when Arsen Beglaryan scored from close range.
The win takes Shirak FC to the top of the Armenian Premier League table, two points ahead of second-placed FC Ararat-Armenia.
FC Alashkert held to a draw
FC Alashkert were held to a 1-1 draw by FC Noah in the other game of the day. Alashkert took the lead in the 20th minute through Yury Vakulenko, but Noah equalized in the 70th minute through Edgar Babayan.
The draw leaves FC Alashkert in third place in the Armenian Premier League table, one point behind FC Ararat-Armenia.
