Dallas Ends Florida’s Win Streak, Wins 4-1
The Dallas Stars ended the Florida Panthers’ 13-game winning streak on Tuesday night with a 4-1 victory at the American Airlines Center. The Panthers had entered the game as the hottest team in the NHL, but the Stars were able to slow them down and take control of the game early on.
Sharp’s Goal in First Period Gives Dallas Early Lead
The Stars took an early lead when Denis Gurianov scored a goal just 2:35 into the first period. Roope Hintz and John Klingberg assisted on the goal. The Panthers tied the game later in the period when Aleksander Barkov scored a power-play goal, but the Stars regained the lead before the end of the period when Joe Pavelski scored a goal with just 1:05 remaining.
Seguin and Benn Add Goals in Second Period
The Stars extended their lead to 3-1 in the second period when Tyler Seguin scored a goal at 10:23. Jamie Benn made it 4-1 later in the period when he scored a goal at 17:23. The Panthers had a chance to get back in the game in the third period when they went on a power play, but they were unable to score.
Khudobin Makes 29 Saves for Stars
Anton Khudobin made 29 saves for the Stars, while Sergei Bobrovsky made 27 saves for the Panthers. The Stars improved to 25-14-2 with the win, while the Panthers fell to 25-8-5.
