Iran, Israel attack
Iran vows to avenge Israeli strike on Syria
Iran has vowed to avenge an Israeli strike on its military positions in Syria, state media reported on Tuesday.
The Islamic Republic's Foreign Ministry condemned the attack, which it said killed several Iranian military advisers and wounded others, as a “blatant violation of international law”.
“Iran will not hesitate to defend itself and its interests against any aggression,” the ministry said in a statement.
Israeli attack on Syria
The Israeli attack on Syria came hours after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned that Iran was planning to launch a drone attack on Israel from Syria.
Netanyahu said that Israel had “foiled” the Iranian plot and that it would continue to take “strong action” against any threats to its security.
The Israeli military said that it had targeted several Iranian military positions in Syria, including a command and control center and a weapons storage facility.
Regional tensions
The Israeli attack on Syria has raised tensions in the region, with Iran vowing to avenge the strike and Israel warning that it will continue to take action against any threats to its security.
The attack is the latest in a series of incidents between Iran and Israel in recent months, as tensions between the two countries continue to escalate.
In May, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) fired rockets at Israeli positions in the Golan Heights, in response to Israeli airstrikes on Iranian targets in Syria.
Israel has also been accused of carrying out a series of airstrikes on Iranian targets in Syria in recent months, although Israel has not officially confirmed its involvement in these attacks.
Regional implications
The escalating tensions between Iran and Israel are raising concerns about the potential for a wider conflict in the region.
The United States has warned that it will not tolerate any Iranian aggression against Israel, while Russia has called for restraint from both sides.
The conflict between Iran and Israel is a complex and long-standing one, and there is no easy solution to the tensions between the two countries.
