Jordan Whittington Injury Update: Rams vs Seahawks Week 9

Jordan Whittington Injury Update

Jordan Whittington, the Rams’ rookie wide receiver, suffered a knee injury in the Rams' week 8 game against the 49ers. The injury occurred on a punt return in the second quarter. Whittington was helped off the field after the play. The Rams haven't provided an official update on the severity of Whittington's injury. But, Whittington was seen wearing a knee brace on the sideline during the second half of the game. He did not return to the game.

What does this mean for the Rams?

With Cooper Kupp and Allen Robinson both dealing with injuries, the Rams are already thin at the wide receiver position. If Whittington is forced to miss any time, it would be another blow to the Rams' offense. The NFL trade deadline is November 1st. There's a chance the Rams could look to add a wide receiver before the deadline.

Ben Skowronek and Brandon Powell could see an increase in playing time if Whittington is forced to miss time. Skowronek started in place of Kupp in Week 8 and caught three passes for 39 yards. Powell has been used primarily as a punt and kick returner this season. But, he does have some experience playing wide receiver. He caught 24 passes for 283 yards and a touchdown last season.

The Rams will need to get healthy at the wide receiver position if they want to make a playoff push. They have a tough schedule coming up, with games against the Buccaneers, Cardinals, and Saints in the next three weeks.
