Mexico City, March 13, 2024 – Amazon Web Services (AWS) Mexico today announced plans to invest more than $5 billion in its cloud business in Mexico over the next five years. The investment will support the expansion of AWS's cloud infrastructure in the country, as well as the growth of its local team.

The investment will help AWS support the digital transformation of key industries in Mexico, including retail, manufacturing, and financial services. AWS will also invest in training and development programs to help Mexican businesses and individuals develop their cloud skills.

“Mexico is a key market for AWS and we are committed to supporting the country's digital transformation,” said Mike Clayville, CEO of AWS Mexico. “This investment will help us expand our cloud infrastructure and local team, and will enable us to support the growth of Mexican businesses of all sizes.”

AWS has been operating in Mexico since 2015 and currently has two cloud regions in the country. The investment will support the expansion of these regions and the launch of new ones in the future.

The investment will also create new jobs in Mexico. AWS plans to hire hundreds of engineers, sales representatives, and other professionals in the coming years.

“AWS's investment in Mexico is a strong sign of confidence in the country's digital economy,” said Jose Angel Gurria, Secretary General of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). “This investment will help Mexico to accelerate its digital transformation and to become a more competitive economy.”
