GIPHY Comes Under Investigation by Federal Trade Commission

FTC alleges anti-competitive practices

Company facing allegations of blocking competitors and raising advertising rates

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has launched an investigation into GIPHY, the popular GIF and sticker platform, for alleged anti-competitive practices.

According to the FTC, GIPHY has been blocking competitors from accessing its content and raising advertising rates to stifle competition. The commission also alleges that GIPHY has been unfairly tying its search engine to other products, such as its video platform.

The investigation is part of a broader effort by the FTC to crack down on anti-competitive behavior in the technology industry. In recent months, the commission has fined Google and Meta billions of dollars for antitrust violations.

GIPHY has denied any wrongdoing and has said that it will cooperate with the FTC's investigation.
