WEB Keep New Hanover Beautiful Expands Cigarette Litter Prevention Program

Non-profit organization to increase volunteer-led cleanups and outreach efforts

Wilmington, North Carolina – March 8, 2023

WEB Keep New Hanover Beautiful, a local environmental non-profit organization, is expanding its volunteer-led Cigarette Litter Prevention Program. The program aims to reduce cigarette litter in the community through regular cleanups, educational outreach, and advocacy efforts.

WEB Keep New Hanover Beautiful is a 100% volunteer-run organization that has been working to keep the community clean and beautiful since the 1980s. The Cigarette Litter Prevention Program is one of several initiatives the organization undertakes to address environmental issues in the area.

The expansion of the program includes an increase in the number of volunteer-led cleanups and educational outreach events. Volunteers will work to remove cigarette butts and other litter from public spaces, such as parks, beaches, and sidewalks. The organization will also host workshops and presentations to educate the public about the harmful effects of cigarette litter on the environment and human health.

“Cigarette litter is a major problem in our community and across the country,” said Sarah King, Program Manager at WEB Keep New Hanover Beautiful. “By expanding our Cigarette Litter Prevention Program, we hope to make a significant impact on reducing the amount of litter in our environment and promoting a cleaner, healthier community for everyone.”
